Wow! We had the best time with our friends in
California and Legoland! Skyler proved that
his fear of ice-cold ocean water was a
misnomer and I proved that the state highway
system assumes you need to end up on a
military base instead of your
rental! We had a blast all weekend and I
felt so relaxed that I would consider it an
annual stay.

Skyler invited his friend Eliana and Ethan to the
Scottsdale Train Park. They
had a great time riding the merry-go-round,
train, and playing the carnival games. If
you haven't been there before, it is an
excellent place to spend the afternoon.

Skyler and I played
for a little while on the Wii Play disc and I ended up
beating him towards the end on the "balloon
shooting game". He started crying and I told him
it was time to turn it off, so he ran into the
other room. I joined him on the couch and talked
to him about competition. "Sometimes daddy wins.
Sometimes Skyler wins."
"But, I want to beat you all the time!"
He cried some more and then I took him into the bedroom and tackled him on the bed. We made a little tent with the sheets and all was back to normal. I love being a dad.

Desert Adventure

Skyler and I took advantage of the great weather
and went for a trek in the desert behind our
house. It was his first time back there. I can't
believe that I haven't taken him out there
before, so I hope to do it more often. He enjoyed
leading the way and was determined to make it to
his cousin, Lukas' house. I had to deliver the
bad news that Lukas lives a little too far to
walk. Check out the video I took during our

I got to take Skyler to his bus stop and pick him
up today. We played all afternoon and I also
managed to get some work done on my research
